Description
Moates J3/F3 Chip – Ford EA EB ED EF EL Falcon
Upgrade, replace or customise the calibration in your Ford EA, EB, ED, EF or EL Falcon with a Moates J3/F3 chip programmed to suit your requirements.
These chips are designed for compatible Ford EEC-IV and EEC-V ECUs and are available in several programming options ranging from a completely blank chip through to Stage 1 performance calibrations and full custom dyno tuning.
Available Options
Blank – Unprogrammed Chip
Supplied completely blank for customers or tuners who want to program their own calibration. Requires compatible Moates programming hardware and software.
Stock – Factory Calibration
Programmed with the appropriate factory-style calibration for your vehicle and ECU.
This option can also be useful where the ECU hardware is compatible but the required catch code, calibration code or strategy is different, allowing the chip to run the correct factory-based calibration without replacing the ECU.
Ideal for:
- ECU replacement or interchange
- Incorrect ECU calibration
- Strategy or catch-code differences
- Returning a modified ECU to a factory-style calibration
- Replacement of an existing J3 chip
Perf 95 – Stage 1 Performance 95 RON
A Stage 1 performance calibration optimised for vehicles running 95 RON premium unleaded fuel.
Designed for standard or mildly modified street vehicles where improved performance and drivability are required without moving to a fully custom calibration.
Typical calibration changes may include:
- Optimised ignition timing for 95 RON
- Revised fuel delivery under load
- Improved throttle response
- Improved part-throttle and full-throttle performance
- Revised RPM or speed limiters where suitable
- Automatic transmission calibration changes where supported
- Adjustments for common bolt-on modifications
Perf 98 – Stage 1 Performance 98 RON
Our Stage 1 performance calibration optimised specifically for 98 RON premium unleaded fuel.
The higher-octane fuel allows a more performance-focused calibration compared with the 95 RON option, with ignition timing, fuelling and applicable ECU parameters optimised for improved engine response and performance.
Recommended for customers wanting the best performance from a standard or mildly modified naturally aspirated combination while retaining good street manners and factory ECU functionality.
Commonly suitable for vehicles fitted with:
- Standard engine
- Sports exhaust
- Extractors
- High-flow catalytic converter
- Performance air filter
- Cold-air intake
- Minor bolt-on modifications
- Standard or near-standard injectors and fuel system
Dyno / Custom Tune
For vehicles requiring a calibration specifically developed around the individual engine combination.
Recommended for more heavily modified vehicles including:
- Aftermarket camshafts
- Larger injectors
- Modified fuel systems
- Increased compression
- Ported cylinder heads
- Major engine modifications
- Supercharged applications
- Turbocharged applications
- Engine conversions
- Combinations outside the scope of our standard Stage 1 calibrations
Custom tuning allows the ECU calibration to be adjusted around the actual vehicle, engine, fuel system and modifications rather than relying on a generic performance file.
Which Option Should I Choose?
- Blank – You want to program the chip yourself.
- Stock – Factory calibration, ECU replacement or strategy/catch-code correction.
- Perf 95 – Stage 1 street performance for 95 RON fuel.
- Perf 98 – Stage 1 street performance optimised for 98 RON fuel.
- Dyno / Custom Tune – Individually tuned modified engine combination.
