Product Description
The Walker Products 200-1382 Lower Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is a quality replacement sensor for selected Australian Ford Falcon, Fairmont, Fairlane, LTD and XH models fitted with the 5.0L Windsor V8.
This sensor is the lower throttle position sensor fitted to the throttle body and is used by the Ford engine management system to monitor throttle blade position.
The TPS sends a variable voltage signal to the ECU so it can accurately determine throttle opening for fuel delivery, ignition timing, idle control, acceleration enrichment and general engine load calculations.
A worn or faulty TPS may cause hesitation, unstable idle, flat spots, poor throttle response, surging or incorrect throttle-position readings during diagnosis.
This sensor is a direct replacement style unit with a remote lead and 3-pin electrical connector.

Important
This is the LOWER throttle position sensor.
Some Ford Falcon Windsor V8 applications, particularly certain automatic-transmission configurations, also use a separate upper TPS. The upper and lower sensors are different parts.

Symptoms of a Faulty TPS
A failing throttle position sensor may cause:
- Hesitation under acceleration
- Poor throttle response
- Flat spots
- Surging
- Hunting or unstable idle
- Stalling
- Incorrect idle speed
- Poor drivability
- Check Engine light
- Incorrect TPS voltage
- Erratic throttle position data on a scan tool
Because TPS signals are used heavily during throttle transitions, even small dead spots in the sensor can cause noticeable driveability problems.
Installation Information
The sensor mounts directly to the throttle-body shaft and should be installed in the same orientation as the original sensor.
After installation, it is recommended that TPS operation is checked with suitable diagnostic equipment or a digital multimeter.
The voltage signal should increase smoothly and consistently from closed throttle through to wide-open throttle without sudden dropouts or dead spots.
Where adjustment is available, closed-throttle voltage should be set according to the relevant Ford service specification.
